Install QuiC on Windows
QuiC installs from Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome as its own app, with its own window, taskbar icon and Start menu entry. There is nothing to download.
Install QuiC from Microsoft Edge or Chrome
Open this page in Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome on your Windows PC and follow the steps below. Nothing is downloaded: the browser sets QuiC up as its own app.
Install it yourself, step by step
These always work in Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome on Windows 10 and 11, whether or not a button appears above.
In Microsoft Edge
- Open this page in Microsoft Edge.
- Open the menu (three dots at the top right), choose Apps, then Install QuiC. If the address bar shows an install icon at its right end, you can click that instead.
- Choose Install. Edge may then offer to pin QuiC to the taskbar and the Start menu.
In Google Chrome
- Open this page in Google Chrome.
- Click the install icon at the right end of the address bar. If there is none, open the menu (three dots at the top right), choose Cast, save and share, then Install page as app…
- Choose Install.
Menu names differ a little between browser versions. Whatever yours calls it, look for the word Install next to QuiC.
What you’ll see: QuiC opens in its own window, titled QuiC, with no address bar or tabs. It appears in the Start menu and on the taskbar with the QuiC icon, and opens on sign-in, or straight into your chats if that browser is already signed in.
What the installed app is, and isn’t
What you get
- The same QuiC as in your browser: chats, calls, meetings and the AI assistant, in its own window.
- The same account. If you are already signed in to QuiC in that browser, the app opens signed in.
- The same end-to-end encryption as the web app, for messages, attachments and calls. The same exceptions apply as everywhere in QuiC, such as chats with a business and meetings set up for recording and AI notes.
- Always current: it updates with the website, so there is nothing to update yourself.
What it doesn’t do today
- It is not a separately downloaded Windows program, and it is not in the Microsoft Store. Your browser installs it, and it needs Edge or Chrome to stay on the PC.
- It works online only. Without an internet connection it shows the browser’s offline page.
- Notifications depend on your browser: they arrive while the QuiC window is open, and after you close it only if you allowed notifications for QuiC and the browser can still receive them.
- It does not ring for a call when it is closed. Keep QuiC on your phone for calls you must not miss.
To remove it, uninstall QuiC from Windows Settings, under Apps, like any other app. Your account and messages are not deleted. More on what encryption covers.
